I watched the interview with Mrs. Cassidy and I personally thought it was somewhat helpful. My goal is to go into urban areas to teach. One that don't have all of the advantages wealthier schools have. As a result I need to learn how to bring technology to them and learn to teach them with it. She said in the video that she found blogs useful in her class room. She said that it is exciting for her students to know that someone was reading and it made them feel good. I want to transfer that same feeling to the teens I intend to teach.
To them it feels like society has forgotten them and I think that is the perfect way to help them realize they haven't been forgotten. I do see a problem with this however. Not all of them will have access to the internet. In this day and age we expect that every person should have access but that simply isn't the case. Many of the students I will have will have trouble making sure they eat. It would be ridiculous for me to expect them to have an internet connection.
To deal with this problem I intend to take them to the library every Monday and Thursday. This gives them a guaranteed internet connection.

Project# 12
I apologize for the name of the video. It was the only way my phone would let me upload it.
C4K Summary for October
10/5/14
Andrea
Andrea wrote a summary about a book she had read. It was a little disjointed so I asked for a little clarification on some of the stuff she wrote. I also asked her how she would feel if she suddenly became famous.
10/12/14
Claire W
Claire wrote a summary for a book she is reading in class. She asked me what I thought and I told her I was sure everything would work out. I told her she did a good job with the post and left.
10/19/14
Kiersten
Kiersten wrote about her family and how she loved apple juice. I introduced myself and told her that she did a good job on her post. I told her about how I liked apple juice too.
10/26/14
Maroroa
Maroroa wrote about how to be a good student at his school. I introduced myself and told him I agreed with him on two points. Those being that good manners are key to being successful and that being smart online is very important especially for someone his age.

Blog Post# 9
I watched a few videos about project based learning and I was asked about what we could learn from them. I think this answer is simple. We can learn how to teach children to work toward a goal over time. At least, that is what I took away with it.
Far too often do we give students short term goals and tell them to do it alone and in a timely manner. That simply isn't a good way to teach. In the real world they will have to learn to work together with other individuals toward a goal. What better way to start them on that path than by teaching them that way.
It doesn't have to be a ridiculous project that requires months to complete but a one that can't be done in a day. A projects that gets them to put their learning caps is one that you should strive for. That's pretty much what I managed to learn from the videos. What about you?

I think there is so much that we can really take away from this video. I think it is inspiring how he managed to make all his dreams come true. He never stopped believing that it was possible. I think that is something that we all do too often is give up. We have to start remembering that as long as we never give up the dream is always attainable.
Another thing he said that I really liked was that people can surprise you. They really can. You should always give people a chance. There are countless times in history that giving someone a chance has paid off so much. Be generous and it can come back on you.
Another thing, I was very fond of what he said about giving up was that "if someone stops trying to correct you they have already given up." That is so true. Never give up on your kids. They might give up on themselves but you don't. I really feel like out of the video those stuck out so much.

C4T Summary for 9/28/14
Blog Summary:I was given Mr. Wickens blog on P.E. again as my assignment. The post was about how it is important to outline objectives for students. This allows them to know what they will be able to do by the end of the lesson. It acts as a nice goal for them to strive for.
My Comment: I read his post on outlining objectives. They were very well done and I told him I could certainly see myself using them when I get my classroom.
C4T Summary for 10/12/14
Blog Summary: I was given iplantes as my blog to comment on. I read the post about growth and fixed mindsets. It talked about people who have an open mindset do better in all facets of life.
My Comment: I introduced myself as a student at the University of South Alabama. I then said that I really enjoyed the chart they posted about the mindsets. I said I could think of so many people with a fixed mindset.

Blog Post #7
I was tasked with watching a few videos. I found most of them really useful and informative. My thoughts are below.
1.
I think I gained a good bit from this. The most important part of this being that as an English teacher I can utilize this as a way to help students study. I could even read the stories to them if I really wanted to. In this age most teens have smartphones so they could actually benefit from something like this.
2.
In this video IPad reading centers are being used to help kids learn to read. Unfortunately, for the grade level I would be teaching this won't be very useful. However, I could still use this as a cool way for me to teach my class without being there. Which will be great for days I know I won't be at school.
3.
This video is about Poplet and how it can be used to help students learn to type better as well as group visuals with text. Once again, this would be great with children of a much younger age as opposed to high school age children. However, it could be used for things like projects and the like if implemented correctly.
4.
I actually used the Alabama Virtual Library when I was in school and I am glad to see that is still a popular tool being used today. I will actually be giving my students an assignment to acclimate them to the AVL so this video was great!
5.
For this video it is showing off Discovery Education Builder. This is pretty good for looking for cool information about things like science or in history. I could see myself using this if I want to add a historical element to me work.
6.
This video shows you how to incorporate Board Builder into your class. I can see this being useful for presentations in class.
7.
The central thing I took away from this video was that you never stop learning. Every generation will be smarter than the last. We need to learn to let them teach us as well and we can really advance as a society.
